Age Concern Elder Abuse Pledge

See Video
Age Concern Wirral’s PEACE Campaign (‘Preventing Elder Abuse and Changing Experiences’) hosted a prestigious event on 15th June at the Leverhulme Hotel, Port Sunlight Village to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
60 of the most senior professionals and Board Members from Wirral Council, Wirral PCT, Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Merseyside Fire, Ambulance and Police, Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology and partners from the Voluntary and Community sectors to name but a few attended the event to pledge their support to the campaign.
AftaThought, a Liverpool based training consultancy, specializing in the use of drama, were commissioned to deliver a number of performances on the day, which challenged thought processes and attitudes of exploring safeguarding issues.
The event concluded with all of the organisations present signing up to the Elder Abuse Pledge, which is a testament to recognising, reporting and stamping out Elder Abuse. This marks the start of a significant joint commitment across the Borough to combat the issues of Elder Abuse.
All organisations who took the pledge received a miniature version of the campaigns Superlambanana as a symbol of their support.
The Superlambanana is currently in the new Victoria Primary Care Centre, Mill Lane, Wallasey and will be travelling around the Borough throughout the coming year, promoting the campaigns strap line “Elder Abuse Is No Laughing Matter”.
