Bring Accidents Down 2 Zero
‘Bring Accidents down 2 zero’ is a new scheme that aims to reduce the speed of traffic in seven different areas on the Wirral, without the need for traffic calming measures such as speed bumps and chicanes. Wirral TV went to Oxton Village where Councillor Quinn and the Wirral’s Mayor Phil Gilchrist officially launched the scheme.Driving at 20 miles per hour through residential areas makes you 80% less likely to have an accident than if you drive at 40mph, and 40% less than if you drive at 30mph. Through the use of 20mph signs, drivers will be aware of the advisory speed limit and will be encouraged to reduce their speed, though no legal enforcement will be in place.
For more information on the scheme, please visit www.wirral.gov.uk/2zero or contact Streetscene on 0151 6062004. Alternatively, you can call in at your local One Stop Shop.
