Clairs Story- Working Tax Overpayment

Clair called into her local Citizens Advice Bureau as she had a large tax credit overpayment. Due to incorrect information given to Clair over the phone by the Inland Revenue helpline, she had incorrectly filled out the necessary forms. With the help of the CAB she requested copies of the telephone conversations she had with the helpline and found the evidence to challenge the Inland Revenue. The overpayment was consequently written off in full.
Citizens Advice Bureau across the country see cases like Clair’s each day. Often there is a solution and by approaching the Advice agency and receiving help, a client can be given the best possible chance to change things.
