Wirral Schools' Film Festival 2008
Weatherhead High School, in conjunction with the Learning Lighthouse City Learning Centre and Wirral TV, is delighted to announce that the Wirral Schools' Film Festival 2009 will take place on Thursday 2nd July at Weatherhead High School. The Festival is a red carpet event and celebrates young people's film making and showcases exciting, unusual and innovative films which are the result of hard work and a passion for film making. Last year the event premiered seventy five entries from thirty schools and was attended by over two hundred film makers aged six to eighteen.
We are delighted to be welcoming Lyn Papadopoulos, story liner and script writer (her credits include Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Cornation Street) as our guest speaker. The evening will involve a promenade event with cinemas screening all films and an awards ceremony to be attended by the Mayor.
Pupils aged five to eighteen are encouraged to enter animations, music videos, short films, fiction and non-fiction films into the Main Strand or a documentary into the Competition Strand themed around 'Talkin' 'Bout My Generation'. Films entered into the competition strand will be available for viewing and voting online at Wirral TV shortly, with prizes for the top three entries.
For more information about you can get involved please contact Nicola Swindell at Weaherhead High School (0151 631 4400) or April Jones or Patsi Baldock at the Learning Lighthouse (0151 678 2509).
