Race for Life 2009

Wirral women responded in their thousands to Cancer Research UK's invitation to join them at Race for Life 2009 in Birkenhead Park. Race for Life is a women only 5k event. It is none competitive; women can walk, jog or run. The last person over the line is as important as the first.

All the money raised through Race for Life funds the work of Cancer Research UK's scientists, doctors and nurses. Cancer Research UK is funding a range of pioneering studies at the University of Liverpool. These include fundamental research investigating genes and molecules involved in the development of cancer, which will pave the way for future treatments. A number of studies are also focused on finding ways to improve the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
